What personal data we collect and why we collect it
General
I do not run my practice through this website. If you are a client, your information will not be associated with this website through that relationship.
Within my practice, I take your privacy very seriously and do a lot to keep your information protected. I do keep records through an Electronic Health Records (EHR) service. This service has a long history of keeping HIPAA-compliant data and is quite secure, however there is always some inherent risk in keeping data on line. I do minimize detailed information to the extent that I am able in my records. If you are a client and have concerns, please feel free to discuss this with me.
This website is not very interactive, however there are some ways that your information could be collected now, or if I add features in the future. The following information discusses privacy related to interacting directly with this website.
Purchases
If you make a purchase through this site, your name, email address, and item purchased are collected by Paypal, subject to the Paypal privacy policy. I keep an offline record of this information which is not shared with anyone else.
Comments
This website does not allow comments. I welcome your feedback by email, have chosen not to moderate a conversation about what is posted on this site, in part to maintain a safer and more intimate environment. Without comments, no data is collected in this way.
Contact forms
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site or use the secure contact form, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. However, as mentioned above this website is not set up to accept comments.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, for example to download forms, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. Currently downloadable forms are not available on the website.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
This website does not use analytics programs such as Google Analytics to track users. The webhost may collect aggregated data about usage, but the information will not be personalized.
Who we share your data with
If you sign up for my newsletter (which is currently inactive), I will keep your information for future publications but will NEVER share or sell your information to anyone.
If you are a client in my practice, I will share with you my policy and protocol regarding your information including your protected health information, which I take very seriously.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Your contact information
Your contact information will be collected if you complete and submit the contact form, or make a purchase through this website. Your contact information will NEVER be sold to or shared with any other entity.
Additional information
How we protect your data
This website has a very low level of interaction, which also reduces the level of information that is collected. Any information that is shared is carefully protected, exceeding HIPAA laws and with consideration for personal privacy. For people who are clients in my practice, I have a handout with detailed information about how I protect your data and information.
If you have any concerns at all about your information and this website, or my private practice, please contact me by the phone number or email address at the top of the page.
